Tourism officials from The Bahamas announced Thursday it would open its borders to international tourists on July 1. However, Bahamian Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis cautioned that the reopening date could change if cases of the virus increased.

To maintain the safety of residents and tourists, only islands that have contained the outbreak will be open to tourists. These include Cat Island, Long Island, Abaco and Andros, Mayaguana, Inagua, Crooked Island, Acklins, Long Cay, Ragged Island and Rum Cay.

Southwest and American Airlines are scheduled to resume flights to Nassau in early July, there are plenty of options to get there.

As summer season approaches, many countries are trying to figure out how to revive the travel industry. Greece has recently announced it expects to open its borders by July, Iceland said it will start welcoming tourists on June 15, Aruba expects to open by July.
