Dominican Republic Is Officially Reopening On July 1: What To Know

Europe Reopens Its Borders

The Dominican Republic will reopen to international tourism on July 1.

Caribbean Journal reported the news just last week, sharing that the director of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Lucien Echavarria, exclusively told them that “about 40-50% of the country’s hotel inventory would open its doors in July.” The rest of the hotels are predicted to open in November.

Unlike other countries, DR will open all destinations at once. We didn’t want to do this region by region,” Echavarria said. “We didn’t want to do Punta Cana, then Puerto Plata and so on. No, we wanted to open the whole country so we can get back faster.”

The country’s busiest airport, Punta Canta Airport, is reopening commercial flight operations on July 1, along with other smaller airports. Multiple international flights from New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico will resume on that date.
