Florida Keys Will Reopen To Tourists On June 1

Florida Key will reopen to visitors on June 1

The Florida Keys will reopen to tourists on June 1, more than two months after the island chain closed to visitors to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The Monroe County Emergency Management said that checkpoints that barred visitors from coming into the Florida Keys will be removed next month and hotels will be able to reopen at 50% capacity. Other lodging establishments such as campgrounds and vacation rentals will be able to open too.

All these businesses will be required to implement sanitation procedures and follow the American Hotel and Lodging Association COVID-19 guidelines for enhanced cleaning practices.

Monroe County residents are urged to continue wearing masks in public settings and keeping social distancing from others by six feet.
