Poland has decided to reopen the borders to all EU countries, as well as to end the mandatory quarantine, on June 13, which measures have been introduced due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Poland announced yesterday. It is the first time in three months that all borders with its European Union neighbors are open.
“We decided to open borders. From June 13, the borders will be open to European Union countries. We are currently limiting the decision to European Union Countries. We need contacts with these countries as soon as possible- so they can return to their previous state,” said Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in his statement.
As of June 6, hotels, theaters, museums, shopping malls are allowed to operate with special sanitary requirements and 50% occupancy.
Flights to EU destinations are scheduled to resume on June 16.
Currently there are no updates regarding non-EU countries. The borders remain closed.
As summer season approaches, many countries are trying to figure out how to revive the travel industry. Greece has recently announced it expects to open its borders by July, Iceland said it will start welcoming tourists on June 15, Aruba expects to open by July.
