On Wednesday, May 20, Disney executive George Kalogridis said the company is considering reopening parks with 20% to 30% capacity.
As of Thursday, May 21, World Disney World theme parks and Disney Resort hotels have been closed and a reopening date has not been identified. Walt Disney World Resort is taking reservations for travel July 1 and afterward with the option to modify the booking without change or cancellation fees.
While rides on Space Mountain and the Mad Tea Party are still on hold for now, Disney Springs reopened its complex to visitors Wednesday. Many third-party shops not directly connected with Disney opened their doors. The complex will be open until 10 p.m. Not all stores and restaurants in the complex will be open, and they might have adjusted their usual hours of operation. On May 27 more of Disney owned shops and restaurants will be opened. Among those are World of Disney, D-Luxe Burger (mobile order) and the Marketplace Co-Op.
Disney Springs has implemented a number of new safety measures based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and appropriate government agencies.
There are 6 key things to know before arriving at Disney Springs, and they include:
Limited parking and reduced entrances
Temperature screenings prior to entry
Face coverings required for Guests ages 3 and up
Physical distancing practices including physically-distanced queues and physical barriers
Temporary operation modifications, including reduced hours at select locations and no scheduled entertainment offerings or high-touch interactive areas
An increased focus on disinfecting and sanitation, including the addition of hand-washing stations and hand sanitizers in key areas
